The Role

We are looking for a Project Coordinator – PEACE Project to;

• to make sound judgements regularly with specific focus on the programming and implementation of the ‘ Promoting Equitable Access to Clean Energy (PEACE)  Project’.
• Communication largely with internal staff and with external contacts to support implementation of Project
• Support engagement with relevant stakeholders in the clean energy sector in Malawi
• Technical sound judgment in the implementation of the ‘ Promoting Equitable Access to Clean Energy (PEACE)  Project’
• Analysis and internal communication of local context to inform and contribute to the programme planning and design.
• Contributing to the Oxfam’s Just Economies thematic areas’ planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

What we are looking for

Our next Project Coordinator will need to have at least;

• At least 10 years’ experience in planning, developing and managing access to energy or natural resources management projects.
• Demonstrable experience, skills and knowledge in advocacy and policy influencing within the energy, climate change and natural resources management sectors.
• Good understanding of integrated energy planning
• Demonstrable skills in effective communication, report writing and facilitation
• Solid conceptual and analytical skills related to equitable access to clean energy programming
• Ability to work on own initiative, manage complex workload and deliver outputs and reports at agreed deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively with staff that do not have direct reporting lines to the post-holder
• Experience in delivering projects in a partnership approach. Experiences in working in a consortium set up an advantage.
• Previous experience in handling donor funded project especially with large grants
• Understanding and appreciation of the interaction between energy, climate change and food systems in Malawi
• Understanding and appreciation of the importance of mainstreaming gender, women’s rights, youth and disability in programming of clean energy initiatives.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and drive towards achieving results without being in direct control of programme operations.
• Awareness of development issues in different settings of Malawi and Southern Africa Region.
• Awareness of own strengths and areas of weakness, and evidence of self-managed learning
• Willingness and ability to work and travel over long hours
