The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the following vacant positions within the Customs & Excise Division.

Job Title : Customs Officers
Reporting To : Team Leader-Customs & Excise
Location : Various Border and Inland Stations
Grade : E3
Organizational Unit : Customs & Excise Division

Duties and Responsibilities

1. 1. Conducting verification of bill of entries for compliance with Customs law and regulations and the set administrative guide lines
   2. Ensuring maximum revenue collection by closing revenue leakage through undervaluation, under declaration, Rules of origin, Misclassification/misdeclaration
   3. Conduct physical examination of goods
   4. Conducting patrols and mounting roadblocks to deter smuggling
   5. Supervising consignments; transhipments, temporary imports, re-exports and transits
   6. Checking Temporary Stores, Bonded Warehouses and other Customs Controlled areas
   7. Identification and profiling of risks in terms of revenue loss or processes and mitigation of such risks
   8. Coordinating with stakeholders and other agencies to combat smuggling
   9. Handle taxpayer complaints and feedback Prepare reports

Qualification and Experience
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with Credit from recognized Universities in the following: Social Science, Business Administration/Management, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics
