Permanent Way Engineer (Lirangwe)

Main Responsibilities:

• Complete the planning, design and execution of projects and maintenance activities efficiently to exceed client expectations
• Coordinate track design and specifications -Ensure compliance with technical and quality assurance standards through regular supervision and follow up of works with team leaders -Prepare well written and technically sound proposals and reports
• Generate and review all work orders to ensure proper resource allocation and necessity of the requested work
• Ensure safe execution of maintenance and project execution and 100% efficiency and quality of the Railway Line
• Accompany the Permanent Way Supervisor and/or manager on prescribed inspections, providing Inspector with information and assisting in the Inspection process
• Inspect all superstructure and infrastructure elements of the railroad tracks according to the maintenance strategy and ensure performance capacity of inspection team
• Develop analysis plans to address identified railway anomalies and coordination of data gathering from inspections
• Follow guidelines on railway preservation to meet standard requirements

Qualification & Person Specification:

• University Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering) – 2 to 4 years’ experience
• Sound knowledge of construction and maintenance
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent negotiation, management, and interpersonal skills
• Good command of English and Chichewa
