Malawi Council for the Handicapped (MACOHA) was established by an Act of Parliament, the Handicapped Persons Act 1971 (Cap. 33.02) as a statutory corporation.
Its goal is to facilitate the empowerment of persons with disabilities to enable them to actively participate and be included in the social economic development activities of their communities and the country at large.
The Council’s programmes and services are aimed at mainstreaming disability in all areas of the country’s development agenda for an inclusive Malawi society.
MACOHA seeks to recruit well qualified persons to fill the vacant positions of
Marketing and Development Officer
(Grade 5) tenable at Bangwe Factory.
Duties and Responsibilities
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill a vacant position of Marketing and Development Officer (Grade 5). The position is tenable at Bangwe Factory and aims at helping contribute to the marketing and business growth of the factory with the following duties and responsibilities:
- Develop business and marketing plans in coordination with the factory’s Centre Manager to achieve revenue goals.
- Develop strong customer relationships and business proposals for new and existing customers.
- To undertake all business development, sales and marketing activities of Bangwe Factory.
- To be accountable for reviewing and approving advertising campaigns, marketing reports, vendor contracts, billing and the department’s expenditure budget.
- Conduct market research to determine customer needs and competitor offerings.
- Initiate and propose market research plans to identify new business opportunities and ideas that can improve revenue margins.
- Implement the marketing strategies for Bangwe Factory and explore new opportunities.
- Identifying opportunities for new products or services that meet market needs.
- Creating marketing campaigns to promote products or services to specific audiences.
- Coordinating with advertising agencies, media outlets, and other organisations to produce promotional materials that the factory produces.
- Managing and coordinating external agencies and relationships and marketing services within and outside MACOHA structures.
- Assist in the factory’s branding and media communication activities such as press releases, advertisements and marketing.
- Work with sales team to ensure all marketing goals, campaigns and strategies are aligned with sales strategy.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Public Relations, Business Administration; Economics; or any business related discipline.
Knowledge:
Strong business development and relationship management; familiarity with sheltered business ventures and employment; possess an innovative and inventive entrepreneurial orientation; ability to handle multiple commercial and business tasks simultaneously in a growth-oriented environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
Experience:
Vast experience in a business development environment: in-depth work experience of consultative and sales strategies; practical experience in business development and customer relationship management in a busy environment: proven experience in developing progressive business development plans and evaluation of policies, programmes and strategies for new business development and ability in drafting sales and advertising initiatives for the development of factory business.
