Emmanuel International is a faith-based organization working with rural communities in the southern part of Malawi in Relief and Development since 1987. Emmanuel International is implementing Development and Food Security project known as Titukulane funded by USAID
The Titukulane’s goal is to enhance “sustainable, equitable, and resilient food and nutrition security for ultra-poor and chronically vulnerable households in Mangochi and Zomba Districts”. To achieve the goal Titukulane is being implemented in three purpose areas namely: (a) Purpose 1: Increased stable and equitable incomes from agricultural and non-agricultural livelihoods for ultra-poor and chronically vulnerable households, women and youth (b) Purpose 2: : Nutritional status among children under five, adolescent girls and women of reproductive age improved (c) Purpose 3: Increased institutional and local capacities to reduce risk and increase resilience among ultra-poor and chronically vulnerable households in alignment with the NRS.
The program is using Management Information System known as RFSA Stream for reporting, data achieving and decision making. Emmanuel International therefore, would like to fill the vacant position as follows:
Job Title: Data Management Officer
Reporting to: The MEAL Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Data Management Officer will assist Data management for Titukulane project, providing any technical support to staff and updating databases for the Project implementation area in Mangochi. She/he will assist in all the research initiatives for the Project and designing data collection tools, training of staff in data management and ensuring that data collected is of high quality.
Responsibilities
- Develops data collection tools and reporting formats to ensure standardized reporting in meeting all data requirements for donor and internal reporting.
- Manages routine data, including data cleaning and entry in different Titukulane platforms to ensure completeness and quality.
- Reports any errors identified during data review to appropriate team members and assists in resolving issues.
- With guidance from Titukulane MEAL Coordinator, builds new components of data collection and aggregation tools for smooth running of the Project.
- Ensures that all Titukulane trainings are entered in the system and track the training data for future reference.
- Maintains master copies of data collection forms and supporting documentation for data management system in electronic venue accessible to relevant teams to ensure accurate updating as needed.
- Troubleshoots data submission and synchronization errors timely.
- Ensures proper filling of paper-based activity attendance sheets all the time.
- Develops and maintains a good filling system for the project document all the times.
- Orients and builds capacity builds of partner’s field staff, Community Mobilizers on data collection forms to ensure accurate data all the time.
- Provides timely on-going support and mentorship to project staff on data management to achieve the goal.
- Facilitates beneficiary verification to ensure registered beneficiaries meet the inclusion criteria.
Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, Statistics, Social sciences, or Economics
- At least 1-3 years experience in related field
- Ability to design online, open-source data collection tools (DHIS2, Kobo Toolbox, ODK, etc.).
- Experience in working with USAID funded projects for at least 3 years is an added advantage.
- Experience in design and management of MIS
