AFIDEP together with researchers from the University of Southampton (UK) and the University of Portsmouth (UK) in collaboration with Gates Ventures (GV) is implementing a project that is aimed at identifying countries that have outperformed their peers in Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) while controlling for differences in other socio-economic factors. The project further seeks to understand the contextual factors that have contributed to the successes of the identified countries.
AFIDEP intends to hire a Research Assistant for a period of 30 days to conduct in-depth interviews, focus group discussions and transcription of audio records.
Duties and Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of the Research Assistant will be to:
- Assist in in-depth interviews and note-taking with government officials, representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), district council officials, health care workers, and chiefs.
- Facilitate FDGs with very young adolescents (10-14 years) and older adolescents (15-19 years) in two selected districts.
- Transcribe the audio records verbatim (e., recorded word for word, exactly as said) and proofread their transcription against the audio records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Public Health, or equivalent
- Communications skills (writing, in-person, moderating/facilitating)
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and within a team
- Strong IT skills with excellent command of Microsoft Office Packages
- Proven experience in the areas above are required
