JOB DESCRIPTION
The Opportunity
Abt Associates is seeking a Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) Project in Malawi. The QA/QI Advisor will be based in Lilongwe with frequent travel to VMMC sites. The Advisor will provide support to VMMC clinics in quality assurance and quality improvement activities related to VMMC and HIV management in consultation with the project Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) and other team members.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordination of QA/QI activities with local stakeholders to ensure compliance with national and international (WHO, PEPFAR) standards.
- Identify QI/QA related needs from providers and partners (insurance, etc.) and design appropriate interventions together with the DCOP.
- Supervision and mentorship of facilities as per the QI/QA process and when needed.
- QA/QI training of partner staff as required.
- Facilitate service providers and partner learning forums including webinars and peer review meetings.
- Technical support for implementation and coordination of project activities.
- Develop indicators and a system for monitoring quality related activities together with Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor.
- Develop and conduct project related presentations as required.
- Write and facilitate writing of abstracts and documentation of best practices, case studies, and success stories.
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.
What We Value
- Bachelor’s Degree + Nine years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Seven years of relevant experience, or PhD + Four years of relevant experience
- Degree in nursing and valid registration with the relevant professional body.
- A post graduate qualification in public health highly desired.
- At least 5 years post graduate experience in HIV prevention and treatment.
- Experience working in QA/QI within a health care setting.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Health (MOH) strategies, guidelines and protocols relating to HIV care and management.
- Understanding of international public health landscape related to VMMC.
- Understanding of the Malawi Health Care system including Acts regulating the provision of health care services in Malawi.
- Proven ability to mentor health professionals of varying skill levels.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining strong leadership and team efficiency.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
