The Opportunity
The Partnerships and Sub Awards Manager (PSAM) takes the lead as the focal point for Save the Children’s engagement with partners in Malawi Country Office, guiding and supporting a strategic process to broaden and deepen the Country Office’s relationship with partners including building partner capacities.
The PSAM will coordinate the identification and mapping of partnership opportunities for implementation of specific Awards or forging strategic partnership for advancing the rights of children jointly. The position holder will ensure and coordinate the engagement of partners in designing, implementation and monitoring of projects including the development of partners’ capacity for not only manage projects effectively but also enable them to evolve as strong CSOs to advance the localization objectives of SCI. Furthermore, the SPSSM will coordinate the management of sub-awards of the CO contracted to partners through effective planning and execution of effort of relevant departments of the Country Office in line with SCI and donors’ policies and guidelines.
The PSAM will provide leadership on the Country Office Sub-Awards Management by ensuring that the four SCI Partnership Essential Standards (Partner development and documentation, Field visit to partners, partner monitoring and reporting and partner mutual assessment and learning) are being followed and adhered to fully and consistently.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in relevant field such as Economics, Social science, development, business administration, Finance and Sociology , with over 8 years of experience
- First Degree with over 10 years of experience in the similar field
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Proven track record in leading and managing partner managed programmes such as consortia and related
- Proven track record of in-country sub award portfolio management and knowledge of major donors’ compliance requirements
- Experience in partners capacity development programmes and intiatives
- Proven experience in organisaing and undertaking partners capacity development programmes such as training courses
- Proven experience in partners related programme cycle management (initiation through close out of programmes)
- Significant experience in financial monitoring, budgetary systems and controls with strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of donor financial policies and guidelines such as USAID, EU, FCDO, NORAD and corporate donors
- Proven ability to prepare budgets and donor financial reports
- Good personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
- Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment from time to time
- Ability to work within a multicultural setting
- Experience communicating with impact in a complex stakeholder environment
- Good attention to detail and analytical skills
- Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people
- Patient, flexible, able to improvise and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
- Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities
- Basic understanding of operational programming, including the realities of the context
- Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in managing multicultural teams
Desirable
- Significant experience with NGOs in an international environment
- Experience of working in a busy INGO environment
- Excellent knowledge of IT mostly spreadsheet, word and PowerPoint
- Capacity building and facilitation skills
