The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission” is a body created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi. In accordance with Section 13 of the Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant positions that exist within its secretariat:
Job Title : Internal Auditor
Grade : C6
Responsible to : Senior Internal Auditor
Purpose
To provide and assist audit coverage, management, and co-ordination of internal audit work within the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and perform ICT audits.
- Conduct internal monitoring and auditing and responding promptly to detected
- Develop corrective action and reporting findings.
- Assist in the preparation of audit plan in regard to appropriate measures of the MEC internal organizational risk: facilitate annual audit processes.
- Review systems and identify risk areas in the system and recommend how these risks can be managed.
- Develop standard audit procedures and carry out performance audit.
- Assist in ensuring that all allegations of financial irregularity, fraud and corruption are promptly and fully investigate and appropriate liaison with law enforcement authorities as necessary.
- Assist in reviewing of draft audit reports in connection with the work papers to assure full and complete reporting in a professional manner prior to submission for the supervisor.
- Ensure that relevant legislation, statutory instruments, codes of conduct and organizational policies are adhered to.
Requisite Academic Qualifications and Experience Desired
- Bachelor of Computer Science/ Bachelor of Information Systems or its equivalence
- Not less than 2 years experience performing audit work with focus on ICT systems in a busy audit office
Competencies
- A good working knowledge of legislation governing public procurement, finance management and auditing in the public sector.
- Ability to work in teams and to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
