The Organisation

The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) is a non-governmental organization whose main mandate is to promote the role of businesses in building resilient communities and sustainable businesses through partnerships.

Since its establishment, AICC’s mandate has expanded to stimulating and supporting private sector investment in the Malawian agricultural and rural markets with a specific focus on the lower end of these markets. Its operations are national in scope and stretches across the agriculture sector and the organization works primarily with those partners in the sector that are committed to engaging the rural poor as their beneficiaries, suppliers and consumers. AICC aims at addressing systems and institutions that can drive competitiveness and job creation in specific sectors by using a market development approach. The interventions by the organization build on private sector development strategies that seek to strengthen enterprises, business relationships & services, market structures, and the business environment so that they channel more benefits to the poor and create more and better jobs effectively. Since its inception, AICC has developed and continue to host the Cotton, Rice, Legumes, Dairy and Livestock Value Chains.

The organization is seeking experienced professionals to contribute their high level of expertise to the organization and the program through the following position:

Monitoring & Evaluation (M &E) Assistant (1)

The Position and Description

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant is responsible for implementing the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework of AICC Malawi’s programme. This involves identifying, tracking of key project monitoring indicators (including financial data), analysing the data and preparing regular reports to project and program leaders and senior management for timely management and decision making. The M&E Assistant also maintains all project data and reports to enable easy retrieval when required. In addition, s/he coordinates data collection, processing, and analysis for special studies and evaluation exercises.

Reporting to the Project Manager will assess progress and impact on an ongoing basis, and to provide timely feedback into the work planning, budgeting and knowledge management procedures.

Position responsibilities (key responsibilities):

The following will be tasks to be performed by the Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant:

  • Assist the program and Project Managers in conducting needs assessments, Value Chain Analysis and surveys.
  • Working closely with Project Managers and the District Coordinators to ensure good integration and holistic implementation, project quality and level of responsibility.
  • Working closely with Project Manager in the development/refinement of AICC Malawi Monitoring and Evaluation Framework
  • Preparing Timely and Quality Quarterly, annual and related reports following donor standards and Requirements.
  • Assist the program and Platform Managers in conducting needs assessments, Value Chain Analysis and surveys.
  • Ensuring adherence to AICC program quality standards and guidelines, assist staff with the implementing the project M &E systems for monitoring progress and impact of project activities.
  • Participate in the setting and monitoring of annual, quarterly as well as monthly targets for all program areas.
  • Participating in quarterly review meetings for projects progress by providing data and reports.
  • Collaborating with Platform managers on the compilation of monitoring reports including consolidating and classification of reports in the projects documentation files and on a computer
  • Coordinating the dissemination and publication of important research results.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics and Mathematics, Economic and Business Administration or equivalent management qualification.
  • At least 3 years working experience in the relevant field.
