Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. We started working in Malawi in 2002 and are known for our innovative and high quality programmes, focusing on resilience building, agriculture, market systems, access to finance, gender equality and emergency response. We promote learning and professional development for our staff through training, coaching, mentoring and exposure to new experiences.

Concern is commencing the following two new projects in 2023:

Food Systems for Food Security (FS4FS): This 5 yer programme (2023-2027) funded by Irish Aid aims to combat food insecurity and malnutrition in Malawi, and address poverty by focusing on food and market systems through strengthening value chains for nutritious foods, improving crop diversity, fostering linkages between farmers and the private sector and markets, and creating learning and evidence to advocate for improved policies. The approach works on four pillars of food security; availability, access, utilisation and stability. The overall goal is to ensure vulnerable households experience increased levels of food and nutrition security by engaging in income generation along food value chains.

FARMSE Ultra Poor Graduation: Funded by International Fund for Agriculture (IFAD) under The Financial Access for Rural Markets, Smallholders and Enterprise (FARMSE), this 2 year programme will implement a targeted, time-bound, and holistic graduation  approach to reach 2500 Ultra Poor Households in Lilongwe Rural. The programme will target households registered in the Government of Malawi’s Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP). The Graduation approach will build household capacity and empower families to interact with the local economy and community. The proposed project will contribute to the overall FARMS goal of reducing poverty, improving livelihoods and enhancing the resilience of rural households.

We are currently conducting recruitment for staff for the following key positions to implement these important programmes:
