ACT Malawi Forum is a grouping of faith based organizations in Malawi both local and international organizations who work on humanitarian aid, gender and climate justice, migration and displacement and peace and security to support local communities. Act Malawi Forum members are also involved in long term development projects and advocacy work to fight for the human rights violations taking place in Malawi.

The goal  of the forum is to promote a locally-led and coordinated approach to advocacy, humanitarian and developmental issues

About the role

 

  • Strengthening working relationships of all ACT Malawi Forum members in Malawi
  • Taking lead in Resource mobilization for the ACT Malawi Forum Coordination desk in Malawi
  • Coordinate regularly with ACT Alliance regional Offices in Nairobi, Kenya and head-quarters in Geneva, Switzerland
  • Developing networks and partnerships with national, regional and international institutions;
  • Keeping up-to-date information in terms of situation reports on disasters, food security, livelihood and rural economic developments and trends within the development sector and donors;
  • Developing relations with key donors in-country and expanding the funding base of the forum;
  • Ensuring positive working relationships with all partners and stakeholders (government ministries, communities, NGOs, donors etc.);
  • Providing technical advice and support to Act Malawi Forum members;
  • Working with ACT Malawi Forum members to drive forward and develop national and regional activities for Policy, Research and Advocacy to further the interests of smallholder farmers;
  • Taking lead in preparation of annual plans and budgets for the forum;
  • Overall responsible for the production of timely quality reports and submission to the ACT Forum Convener, partners and other donors;
  • Creating opportunities to promote and disseminate lessons learned within ACT Malawi Forum members to a wider audience (farmers, local government, research institutions, other NGOs, etc.);
  • Represent ACT Malawi Forum members in strategic meetings, conferences, forums and other public events and contribute towards consolidating and raising the profile of Act Malawi Forum;
  • Ensure effective implementation and compliance with the overall finance, logistic & procurement manuals, anti-corruption policy and compliance with procedures required by Act Alliance Global;

 

About you

 

Attributes of the person

  • Self-motivated, dynamic with ability to work with Act Forum members to achieve desired results.
  • Should have strong analytical and quantitative skills and should have a result oriented personality.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Be computer literate in most of the computer programmes.
  • A devoted Christian with unquestionable Christian values.
  • Of Malawian origin.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Disaster and Climate Change, Social Science and other related fields from Malawi Government accredited University
  • Minimum of 2 years Working Experience in the areas of Food security, Sustainable Agriculture, Human Nutrition, Climate Change management, Natural Resources management
  • Progressive experience of working at least 2 years in the NGO sector in Malawi.
  • Proven experience in proposal development from concept note to full proposal and experience in other innovative strategies of resource mobilization with a proven record in raising substantial research/development funds.
  • Proven experience in advocacy
  • Experience in liaising with government officials and a variety of donors

  3. One of your responsibilities will be to strengthen the working relationship of all Act Malawi Forum members both national and international members , can you explain how you will achieve this if you are employed for this position.
  4. As ACT Malawi Forum Coordinator, your position is too demanding such that many things will compete/need your time.  Please give how you will prioritize your workload so that you will meet deadlines?
