Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Farm Services Coordinator for the National Smallholder Farmers’ Association of Malawi (NASFAM),
The position is based at Head Office in Lilongwe and reports to the Head of Farm Services. The position is responsible for coordinating the implementation of Farm Services programmes in specified areas, ensuring that farmer members receive the right agricultural technological services that would assist them produce high quality crops and increase their yield while being responsive and adaptive to climate change. The position requires travel to all NASFAM operating areas in Malawi.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:

- Coordinate Climate Smart Agriculture programmes including natural resource management, crop production and diversification and livestock management activities in line with organisations plans and targets
- Work with the field team to ensure that fames are adequately supported with relevant technologies to support their production and productivity.
- Coordinate Seed programme for specifically allocated associations, ensuring the sustainability of the programme.
- Coordinate the establishment and management of various on-farm demonstration plots, with the objective of transferring new production technologies to farmer members.
- Assist in production and development of training materials and contribute towards publication of newsletters, manuals, radio programmes and any other information materials for farmer members.
- Support winter cropping programmes for smallholder farmer’s including establishment of small scale irrigation farming activities.
- Provide technical support in development of project proposals aimed at supporting farmer’s productivity including natural resource management and climate smart agriculture.
Experience
-
- Experience designing and implementation of programmes focused on crop production,
- 5 years work experience at similar role
Qualification
The ideal candidate should have a first Degree in Agronomy. Rural Development and Extension or any related field from a recognised university.
Competencies
-
- Must have very good knowledge and understanding of the Agriculture sector
- Must have experience in coordinating agriculture related programmes including climate smart agriculture and natural resource management
- Must be a self motivated person with a genuine drive to succeed and have a positive and constructive attitude
- Must be computer literate (ability to use Microsoft packages)
- Those with experience in proposal development will have an added advantage
