The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi. In accordance with Section 13 of the Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant positions that exist within its secretariat:

Job Title :       Assistant District Election Officer (11 Positions)
Grade :          C7
Responsible :  District Elections Officer

Purpose
To provide and coordinate electoral services at the district level

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. 1. Guiding DEST, DCECC, MPLC and other Council stakeholders on electoral matters.
   2. Leading the demarcation and review of ward and constituency boundaries.
   3. Leading the storage, distribution and retrieval of electoral material and resources.
   4. Liaising with relevant election officers on electoral matters.
   5. Supervising both permanent and temporary electoral staff at Council level.
   6. Taking part in the recruitment and training of registration and polling staff at District level.
   7. Facilitating the delivery of CVE materia’s at council level.
   8. Representing MC at technical meetings with relevant stakeholders at council level.
   9. Producing appropriate reports as required from time to time

Requisite Academic Qualifications and Experience Desired

• A Diploma in any Social Sciences, Political science, or Development related field.
