POSITION: PROJECT DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
About us
NGO CCR is a national Coalition of NGOs and networks whose broad goal is to entrench child rights programming in all development processes in Malawi anchored under the four fundamental principles of the rights of the Child: Non-discrimination; The best interest of the child; Right to life, survival and development; and Participation within the evolving capacities of the Child. The main goal for the organization is to ensure that Children in Malawi are protected and live a life free from violence and abuse at all times through visibility, increased Voice and age appropriate participation.
Purpose
The purpose of this position is to support development of new projects through innovation, evidence based generation of project ideas, consolidation of learning and fosterage of new partnerships in order to meet the growing demands and strategic objectives of NGOCCR tenable at its Secretariat office in Lilongwe.
The position is on temporary fixed term of initially 5 months contract , renewable depending on performance and availability of donor funding.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Assist in simplifying and consolidating the new strategic thinking of NGO CCR for effective programming
- Assist in collecting ideas, feedback and concepts from various stakeholders including Coalition members, partners and children and develop project concepts
- Assist in project concept and proposal development in response to relevant calls for proposal
- Assist in marketing operations, and branding of NGO CCR Strategy and programmes
- Assist in designing and organizing resource mobilization campaigns and projects
- Assist in harmonizing the expectations of the Board, Executive Committee, Secretariat and general members of NGO CCR by ensuring that specific objectives are SMART and more importantly adequately reconciled with objectives of the Strategic Plan in place.
- Assist in strategic management of existing and potential funding partnerships
- Assist in designing and implement strategic institutional development initiatives
- Prepare and submit quality monthly and other periodic report in timely manner
Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- A University Degree in Development fields such as Social Policy, project management, Development Studies, Economic Development or related field of expertise, from a recognized learning institution duly accredited by National Council for Higher Learning.
- At least two years’ direct experience working with Child-focused Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) or with a donor engaging NGOs
- A successful track record in project and programme management
- Demonstrated competence in preparation of winning project development concepts and proposals.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to write project reports, proposals and/or research studies in a related development field. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and strong conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English
- Demonstrated management skills and ability to motivate staff and instill team spirit.
- Excellent IT skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft office
