Open Connect Limited (OCL), is a wholesale Telecommunication services provider that was incorporated on the 8th of March 2016 to house and develop Telecommunications infrastructure for the purpose of providing wholesale carrier infrastructure services in Malawi. The company, therefore, is an open-access infrastructure company, a neutral player in the Telecom industry.
In June 2018, the company went through a major transition, where 60% of the share stake was diluted in aggregate and re-issued to PADF1 and PADF2.
OCL strives to engage with network operators and Internet Service Providers (ISP) in Malawi to provide connectivity services.
These services include National Backbone Dark Fiber, National Backbone Managed Fiber Capacity, Metro Dark Fiber, Metro Managed Fiber Capacity, Data Center, and FTTx. More information about the organization can be found at www.ocl.mw.
OCL, therefore, seeks to recruit the Assistant Accountant to be based at the Head Office – Blantyre.
The GC is the chief governance specialist in the organization and will provide advice and implement good governance policies. The GC will support the effectiveness of the Board of Directors and Board Committees by monitoring and ensuring that Board policy and procedures are followed and providing advice on the alignment between strategy, governance, legislation, and policies.

Reporting to: The Finance Manager
Job Purpose:
- Provides financial information as requested by internal customers.
- Allocates operational and capital costs to various projects and divisions.
- Prepares ad-hoc financial reports as the business requires.
- Assisting in preparing daily cash flow and sales reports.
- Handles business banking activities
- Performs reconciliations of account receivables
- Performs record-keeping of all financial operations.
- Performs ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Produce stock sheets for stock-taking exercise
- Performs quarterly stock-taking in liaison with the store’s Clerk
- Monitors operational performance against budgets.
- Assists in financial audits and implements audit recommendations.
QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
| Qualification | At least Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Accounting/ Finance. |
| Experience: | Budget preparation cycle, Taxes, Ledger reconciliation, Receivables management. |
| Skills/Expertise: | Above 2 years in corporate accounting. |
