The Malawi Electoral Commission,”the Commission” is a body created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi. In accordance with Section 13 of the Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant positions that exist within its secretariat:
Job Title : Research and Documentation Officer
Grade : C6
Responsible to : Research, M&E Manager
Purpose
To coordinate and support on research projects for the Commission. The successful officer will also be expected to lead on documentation within the organization and contribute to writing and publication. This includes providing the research input required to implement, develop, and evaluate the Commission’s activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilies:
- Provide technical support in the design and implementation of research activities such as research design, sampling, data analysis and dissemination of results
- Coordinate and supervise research activities for quality control and smooth execution.
- Support documentation of all activities through various communications channels (web stories, project briefs, journal articles etc.)
- Work hand in hand with Research. M&E Officer in tracking progress of activities through enforcement of submission of all required reports
- Provide support to all departments through editing of documents and reports.
- Provide support in the design, write, and edit promotional and informational material for internal and external audiences informed by research findings.
- Work closely with the division to promote and foster results documentation, inter-departmental sharing and use of lessons learned and best practices.
Requisite Academic Qualifications and Experience Desired
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Knowledge Management or any related field with bias in Statistics
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience.

- Research design, implementation, and data analysis.
- Data collection and Data analysis packages
- Strong inter-cultural and interpersonal skills.
- Experience writing for multiple audiences, especially in translating technicalknowledge into common language.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
- Fluency in English and any other local languages (reading, writing and speaking):
- experience with translation of technical documents.
