INTERNS
AN INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH POINT OF PROGRESS

BACKGROUND

Point of Progress is a local NGO (formerly Network for Youth Development; 2009 – 2022) registered with all relevant authorities in Malawi. The organisation is committed to empowering the youth, women and children to act around issues that affect their lives and play an active role in the development process.

The organisation implements different social and development programmes in 12 districts in Malawi and is guided by different thematic areas one of which is Youth and Agriculture, Environment and Climate Change.

THE INTERNSHIP
The organization seeks to engage Interns in the two programs being implemented in Dowa and Machinga Districts to support organisational activities under the guidance of its Project Coordinator for “Young Women Can Do It.”

A vibrant, innovative and enthusiastic candidate is therefore being invited to join Point of Progress in the capacity as an intern with the following functions expected of the same.

The Interns shall report to the Project Coordinator (Young Women Can Do it)

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

  • To support project Staff in follow up activities to youth and women clubs
  • To build the capacity of the Young Women Can Do It clubs
  • To facilitate linkages with stakeholders at the district level
  • To support the development and implementation of activities for clubs
  • Submit requests/concept notes and reports for activities to the project officer
  • To identify and document success stories for project beneficiaries
  • To collect and enter beneficiary data in Kobo and other tools
  • Participate in ToTs for various capacity building trainings
  • Provide capacity building to youth and women clubs in various topics
  • Representing the Project Officer in meetings related to the project at village and area level

REQUIREMENTS

  • Should at least have a Degree or Diploma in the Development-Related fields, Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Work etc
  • Be computer literate – Microsoft package is a must
  • Experience in using digital data collection tools e.g. Kobo Collect
  • Former members of Young Women Can Do It will have an added advantage
  • Resident in the district of operation (Machinga or Dowa)
  • Good communication skills (Writing and Speaking)
  • Have a Motorbike Riding License

REMUNERATION

Interns are not financially remunerated by POP. The organisation shall only reimburse all costs incurred by the intern in the course of discharging his/her functions under the same rules as costs reimbursed to staff members.
