VACANCY ADVERT – Finance and Administration Officer
All Saints Mtunthama Anglican Orphanage (AMAO) is a non-profit making institution in Kasungu under the Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi (ADLM). AMAO provides institutional and home based care and support to orphans and vulnerable children to develop to their full potential so as to contribute meaningfully to the development of their respective families and communities. As part of its growing desire to improve service delivery, AMAO seeks to fill the position of Finance and Administration Officer.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the incumbent will be required to provide oversight over financial, administrative, human resources and operational activities at AMAO.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation, management and monitoring of budgets and cash-flow forecasts;
- Manage bank accounts and prepare bank reconciliations statements; Maintain up-to-date and accurate accounting records and ledgers;
- Prepare financial reports and ensure timely submission of reports;
- Design an effective financial management system, for accurate and timely financial information, ensuring effective utilization and accountability for both financial and non-financial resources, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant policies, procedures and regulations;
- Develop and implement internal control systems to achieve accountability;
- Maintain a computerised financial management system for all expenditure;
- Maintain asset register for all fixed assets and proper record keeping for inventories;
- Develop and implement human resources management systems, policies and practices which address the terms and conditions of employment;
- Ensure the correct application of procurement policies and procedures;
- Lead preparation for financial audits and closure of audit financial management findings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or equivalent;
- At least 3 years’ relevant work experience;
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Those with prior experience working in a children environment will be considered a strong asset.
