CARE Malawi in partnership with mHub and Comboni Missionaries Institute Limited (CMIL) secured funding from EU to implement Ntchito Mbambande project (Skilled youth for an inclusive, wealth creating, and self-reliant nation project) to increase employability and self-employment for vulnerable youth in the districts of Blantyre and Machinga (southern region), Salima and Dedza (central region), Mzimba (northern region).

The Ntchito Mbambande project will be implemented in 48 months to enhance market-relevance of TEVET curricula for digital skills and green trades in sectors with high growth potential in Malawi, and mitigate participation barriers for vulnerable youth, in particular adolescent girls and young women, through diversification, decentralization, and localization of formal and informal TEVET programmes and post-graduation support.

CARE Malawi seeks to recruit well qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions based in Machinga, Salima and Mzimba.

FIELD ADVISORS – (2) MZIMBA & MACHINGA, BASED AT T/A LEVEL

The Project Field Advisor (PFA) is the frontline worker responsible for the successful implementation, coordination and facilitating and monitoring community mobilization, capacity building, ensuring collaboration with decentralized government structures at community level.

As a representative of CARE in the communities where we work, the PFA has a duty to uphold and demonstrate CARE’s Core Values at all times; adhere and comply with all relevant organizational policies and procedures; and responsibly manage the resources put at his/her disposal for the accomplishment of his/her duties.

Specific duties include the following:

    • Prepare and submit monthly work plans describing his/her schedule of activities and expected outputs.
    • Coordinate and support community volunteers to implement project activities according to plan and within budget and in compliance with programmatic and financial standards and procedures.
    • Facilitate capacity-building and training for project participants and community Volunteers, school, and community structures such as mother groups, SMC, VDCs, Child Protection Committees on youth enrolment and retention in the TEVET programs, leadership building and gender activities.
    • Provide continuous support towards data collection, consolidation and reporting of project data from his/her area according to established timeframes.
    • Carryout regular monitoring, technical support visits and review meetings with community structures, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
    • Prepare for and participate in community review and partner coordination meetings, project review meetings and reflection sessions, and other PPM-related activities (e.g., baseline, midline and endline surveys, action research, donor monitoring visits, etc.) as required from time to time.

Required education and experience

    • Diploma in Technical Education, Community Development, Development studies or any other related field.
    • 3 years of experience in working with vulnerable youth and communities in any of the following areas: technical education, adolescent empowerment, out-of-school adolescents focusing on access to formal & informal technical education and improving enrollment and retention of the youth in TVET community and college-based trainings.
