Smile Life Insurance in partnership with Financial Access for Rural Market, Small Holders Enterprises (FARMSE) is implementing a two year project called Insurance Kumudzi. Therefore, is inviting applications for the following vacancies.

District Project Officers (Zomba, Mulanje, Mchinji, Kasungu, Mzimba)

Duration: Two year contract.)

Reporting to: Project Manager

Responsible for: Area Sales Agents

 

Description

The Project Officer will be responsible for Smile Life Insurance Kumudzi project implementation at District level, selling and marketing Insurance Kumudzi products, managing and supervising all aspects of the rural insurance promotion to ensure effective implementation of project activities.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and implementation

  • Ensure successful implementation of Insurance Kumudzi project activities at District level according to Smile Life Insurance Company Logical Framework, work plan and milestones.
  • Selling and marketing Insurance Kumudzi products
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to identify sales leads.
  • Facilitate training of community agents and groups on the modalities of the Insurance Kumudzi product.
  • Develop work plans in liaison with the project team and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Consolidate district progress reports of all project activities and submit in timely manner.
  • Ensure that all project interventions are carried out with active and meaningful participation of the project participants and other key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Finance staff to ensure project expenses are allocated correctly against approved budget and timely submission of expenditure reports.
  • Represent Smile Life in all stakeholder engagement meetings and other forums

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Support the regular technical and methodological monitoring and evaluation according to the log frame.
  • Prepare regular reports on all activities following specified formats and agreed schedules ensuring data quality and adherence to submission timelines.
  • Conduct monitoring visits to program impact areas to assess physical progress of activities against targets and provide guidance in areas where improvements are required.

  • Demonstrated and well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to relate with communities at grassroots level
  • Be a team player
  • Experience in sales of insurance products will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to meet sales targets.
  • Computer literate and fluency in English and Chichewa.
  • A valid motorcycle licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/ Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Community Development and Social Work or any relevant qualification.
