QUALIFICATIONS

· Holder of MSCE Certificate

· Holder of MoH HTS Certificate

· Have at least one year’s experience working in Malawi in the same field

· Be age 18 or older

· Must be in a reasonably good health and clear state of mind

· Be motivated, enthusiastic, sensitive and have a genuine desire to help others

· Be able to read and write English

· Adequate vision or wear corrective lenses

· Must have no criminal record

· Be familiar with the language, culture and religious beliefs of the community with which he or she will work

JOB FUNCTIONS:

To provide HIV Testing Services and other related services to clients

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide HIV Testing Services to clients according to National HIV Testing Guidelines for Malawi
  • Provide health education talks to patients in Outpatient and Under 5 departments on the importance of HIV Testing services
  • Support linkage of newly diagnosed HIV positive clients to HIV treatment
  • Support quality assurance activities at the health facility
  • Document all client testing outcomes in approved HTS Regosters
  • Assisting in Monitoring and evaluation of project activities

DUTIES AND TASKS Duty 1 Provide HIV Testing Services to clients according to National HIV Testing Guidelines for Malawi

Task 1.1 Provide differentiated, high yield testing approaches that have proven evidence of high HIV yield. These may include HIV Index Testing services, Social Network Strategy (SNS), PITC, OVC Testing and distribution of HIVSTK. to eligible clients

Task 1. Document details of all contacts elicited and make timely contact tracing efforts for contacts eligible for HIV testing

Task 1.2 Provide Enhanced Adherence Counselling (EAC) to clients with High Viral load results

Task 1.3 Collect Dried Blood Spots (DBS) for Viral Load and Early Infant Diagnosis (EID)

Task 1.4 Support other HIV Testing strategies as determined by the donor from time to time

Task 1.5 Manage HIV Testing commodities through conducting regular physical counts of HTS commodities, checking expiry dates and filling the Daily Activity Registers (DAR).

Task 1.6 Documenting and reporting any events that may jeopardise provision of quality HTS

Duty 2 Provide health education talks to patients in Outpatient and Under 5 departments on the importance of HIV Testing services

Task 2.2 Providing information on HIV testing services in all Service Delivery Points

Task 2.3 Distributing IEC materials about HIV testing to clients

Task 2.4 Distributing condoms

Duty 3 Support linkage of newly diagnosed HIV positive clients to HIV treatment and to prevention services for HIV negative clients

Task 3.1 Physically escort all clients identified HIV positive to the ART clinic

Task 3.2 Facilitate linkage to the facility of all clients tested at the community and follow the approved testing guidelines for confirmation

Task 3.2 Maintain proper documentation of all HIV positive clients in linkage register

Task 3.3 Coordinate with expert clients and other health workers to ensure proper linkage of clients to care, treatment and support

Task 3.3 Refer HIV negative clients to preventive and other services ie PrEP, VMMC, STI, FP,GBV.

Duty 4 Support quality assurance activities at the health facility

Task 4.1 Conduct scheduled quality controls as is stipulated in HTS Guidelines

Task 4.2 Conducting self-assessments and peer –sit in counselling sessions

Task 4.3 Participating in facility based counsellors’ meeting

Task 4.4 Participates in Proficiency Tests

Task 4.5 Participating in infection prevention activities

Duty 5 Assisting in Monitoring and evaluation of project activities

Task 5.1 Collecting and recording accurate data and information on HTS and other activities

Task 5.2 Assisting in analysing the data and information for trends and developments

Task 5.3 Assisting in submitting reports/returns to supervisors in a timely manner

Task 5.4 Generate monthly reports on PITC by Service Delivery Points (SDP), Index Testing and HIVSTK Distribution.

Task 5.5 Receive Viral Load and EID results and document them accordingly in the registers

Task 5.6 Cross checking all reports are in tandem with source documents and that they are authentic, before submission
