BACKGROUND:
Malawi Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (MANET+) was established in 1997 as a coordinating and facilitating body to promote effective networking amongst associations and support groups of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and their collaborators. MANET+ is one of the five CO sub-sub recipients supporting the implementation of a grant titled “COVID-19 Response Mechanism in the Community” with support from Actionaid under the Global Fund C19RM program. The Principal Recipient of this fund is Ministry of Health.
MANET+ forms a web of solidarity of associations and support groups of HIV positive persons and those affected. One of the major objectives of MANET+ is to advocate for the rights of people living with HIV.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Finance Manager will provide MANET+ with Finance and Administrative support to effectively implement program activities while adhering to donor requirements. The Finance Manager works in close collaboration with the Head of the Finance and Administration Department to achieve the strategic and operational goals of MANET+.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assisting in the compilation of monthly management accounts to strict deadlines.
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
  • Analyse and review budgets and expenditures, contracts and grants.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyse revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
  • Interact with external auditors in completing audits.
  • Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices and other accounting documents.
  • Debtors and Creditors management.
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
  • Assisting in handling insurance matters.
  • Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff.
  • Maintenance of stock records and fixed asset register.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Ensuring compliance with disbursement and liquidation procedures of specific activity funds.
  • Procurement of various goods and services.
  • Responsible for logistics relating to visitors and travels.
  • Coordination of relevant meetings, workshops, and trainings.
  • Ensure that all administrative documents and files are properly organized, updated and regularly backed up.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance or any relevant qualification
Minimum of five years of accounting, finance and administration experience gained preferably with a non-profit organization.
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Flexibility, problem-solving skills, accuracy, ability to work under pressure and good communications and interpersonal skills.
High level of reliability, dynamism, objectivity and integrity.
Good computer skills and extensive knowledge of Excel and Word
Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and detail orientation.
Strong commitment to teamwork.
JOB OFFER:
Reporting to: Head of Finance and Administration Department
Contract duration: 1-year contract with the intention of extension
Location: Lilongwe
Start date: 1st March 2023
