FULL TIME FEMALE WEEKEND BOARDING HOUSE PARENT & NURSE

Sir Harry Johnston International School is a respected international school in Zomba, Malawi.

It offers a complete education for children from pre-nursery to year 11. The school has two hostels accommodating 120 students.

We are looking to appoint one enthusiastic and caring female House Parent who enjoys looking after children and organising activities, such as sports and other forms of recreation. The House Parent will also be expected to provide nursing care to boarding students.

Duties

The successful candidate shall be required to:

• • Establish relationships with secondary aged children as well as their parents/carers.
  • Supervise boarders’ weekend activities.
  • Ensure the hostels are kept clean and tidy.
  • Provide first aid to injured and/or sick students.
  • Take sick and/or injured students to the hospital and administer medicine.
  • Work in a team under the direction of the Boarding Master.
  • Work from Friday at 11am until Sunday at 5pm each week.
  • Ensure the safe guarding of the students is adhered to at all times.
  • Sleep in staff accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights and they will be on call in case they are needed.
  • Have the ability to communicate in English
  • Do any other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
Applicants should have at least a College Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery or its equivalent as a minimum.

The post is subject to child protection screening including checks with past employers and a police clearance.
