Founded in 1987, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 1, 500, 000 people in 43 countries. In Malawi, AHF is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to strengthen access to quality treatment for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). AHF Malawi is providing these services in twenty five hard to reach health facilities in Dedza, Lilongwe, Ntcheu, Chikwawa and Nsanje Districts.

AHF Malawi wishes to recruit highly qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions to achieve its objectives in the country.

Comprehensive Nurse

Position Title: Comprehensive Nurse
Reports to: Regional Medical Officer
Duty Stations: Chinsapo Health Facility (1)

Summary of duties
To provide comprehensive and integrated clinical care to HIV positive individuals; and strengthen efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of quality clinical services in AHF supported sites.

The incumbent will ensure smooth implementation of ART service delivery, coordinate with other nurses in providing topnotch HIV care, treatment and prevention programs and strengthen referral and linkage services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• • In close collaboration with the facility clinical team, the comprehensive nurse will provide quality, evidence based ART, PMTCT, STI and TB services.
  • Perform skilled nursing procedures and administer medication as ordered, and within the scope of practice of the licensee.
  • Establish and support effective linkages and referral of patients within and outside the facility.
  • Work closely with the prevention coordinator to supervise community program staff and ensure achievement of targets and timely preparation and dissemination of reports.
  • Initiate and expand PITC and index testing in the supported health facilities.
  • Identify and support walk-in patients requiring immediate attention and refer them to the medical officer for treatment.
  • Provide patient and family education covering diet, hygiene, drug adherence and disclosure.
  • Collaborate with government staff, and other implementing partners in the delivery of quality services to all clients.
  • Support the clinic in establishing effective patient follow up mechanisms, and ways of retaining all patients in care.

Qualifications, Experience, and other attributes

• • Diploma in Nursing with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in HIV care and treatment.
  • Must be trained in pediatric and adult HIV Management.
  • Must be highly organized and capable of effective multi-tasking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in setting up mechanism for patient follow up and treatment adherence.
  • Knowledge of clinical protocols and procedures in the management of HIV related diseases.
  • Registered with Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi
  • Sensitivity to ethics and confidentiality of HIV/AIDS client issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Excellent report writing, prompt and effective communication using charts and graphs.
  • Willingness to relocate and work in remote health facilities of Malawi.
