Vacancy:
Community Engagement Officer – 2 positions
EPM is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill 2 positions of Community Engagement Officer tenable at EPM offices in Thyolo and Mulanje districts. The successful candidates will report to the Corporate Affairs Manager.
Duties & responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Working closely with communities and other stakeholders around EPM estates with the objective of building and strengthening long-lasting relationships
- Developing and updating stakeholder database with all contacts in the region/ community of operation
- Maintaining and implementing a clear schedule of community engagement meetings
- Identifying, addressing and reporting on community concerns that have the potential to escalate and become grievances
- Monitoring, reporting and supporting the impact evaluation of community projects funded by EPM
- Taking a leading role in training community members and stakeholders on key and relevant company policies and procedures
Education & experience
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Development, Education or related field.
- At least 2 years of work experience in areas of social work preferably in a rural environment
Attributes & Required skills
- Mature and understanding of the cultural and social context in Thyolo and/ or Mulanje Districts
- Excellent in verbal and written communication skills in both English & Chichewa Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work extremely well as part of a growing team Creative, persuasive and good at negotiating
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive subjects with professionalism
