Job Title: ACCOUNTANT | Reporting: Chief Executive Officer

Hours: Full Time (2 Years Contract – Renewable)

Silver Strikers Company Limited, owners of Silver Strikers Football Club, is a company based in Lilongwe with an unwavering fan base across Malawi and beyond. Since the current format of the Super League of Malawi, Silvers Strikers Football Club has won the League 8 times and finished as runners-up in the 2020/21 season. The Role of the ACCOUNTANT
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the management team of Silver Strikers Company Limited.
Specific Roles Include:
a) Maintaining Silver Strikers’ books of accounts in line with International Financial Reporting Standards and other applicable regulations;
b) Developing and monitoring budgets;
c) Preparation and processing of monthly payroll;
d) Analysis and reconciliation of individual accounts (including gate proceeds from all Silver Strikers FC matches);
e) Management of accounts payable and receivable
f) Preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, management reports, cash-flow statements and bank reconciliations;
g) Liaising with internal and external auditors
h) Strengthening financial data confidentiality and facilitate database backups when necessary;
i) Updating and maintaining a fixed asset register;
j) Maintaining a good system of internal controls
k) Contributing and supporting fully the Commercialization activities and all strategies of the company, providing necessary financial analysis

- The Finance Sub-Committee of the Board General Club Accountabilities
- To ensure compliance with all relevant Club policies.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical, and social requirements
- To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Silver Strikers Company.
- To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel.
- To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times
Qualifications, Person Specification – Essential Personal Characteristics
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or Finance plus a professional qualification in Accounting i.e. ACCA/CIMA;
b) Atleast 5 years’ experience in a similar senior position under minimum supervision;
c) Must be registered with ICAM;
d) Excellent practical knowledge of QuickBooks;
e) Good understanding of general ledger and subledger functions
f) Ability to organize and priorities daily duties;
g) An analytical, commercial and business awareness;
h) Good football knowledge;
i) Good communication skills both written and verbal;
j) Excellent interpersonal skills;
k) The ability to operate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
