The Tea Research Foundation of Central Africa seeks to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the following vacant position:
Technical Officer – Plant Breeding
Reporting to the Trainee Research Scientist, the duties and responsibilities shall include:

- Assist scientists in the implementation, supervision and monitoring of field or laboratory activities
- Assist in collection, compilation and statistical analysis of data from research trials
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date data bank for all research projects
- Train, supervise and provide technical guidance to assistants or labour in carrying out research activities
- Undertake inspections and develop weekly and monthly work plans for all research activities
- Assist scientist in conducting literature searches on various subjects or research areas
- Compile monthly and quarterly progress reports for research experiments
Qualifications and Key Competences
-
- Diploma in Agriculture or related field from a recognized institution
- Two years of relevant experience in research work
- Be innovative and able to work with minimum supervision
- Good work planning and work organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess good supervisory and report writing skills
- Good knowledge of Statistical packages, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
- Ability to meet targets on all assigned activities
