Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM), affiliated to Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit Christian Organization aiming at improving housing conditions in Malawi. HFHM was established in Malawi in 1986 and has assisted over 41,000 families through different housing solutions. In addition to housing, HFHM has undertaken water and sanitation projects and also Disaster Prevention and Recovery in peri-urban and rural areas.
Habitat for Humanity Malawi has the following vacant position to be filled in support of the of its main activities at the National Office – LILONGWE.
Job Title: Building Supervisors
Department: Construction
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the implementation of construction activities on HFHM sites and ensuring that all construction works are well supervised and coordinated according to HFHM requirements and National construction standards.
Reports to: Construction Coordinator
Main Responsibilities

- Oversee and ensure that safety rules and procedures are followed at all sites in accordance with HFHM Safety Guidelines.
- Coordinated daily tasks according to priorities and planned schedules, ensuring that artisans are well managed
- In conjunction with Field Officer, order all required materials as advised by Construction Coordinator and in line with Bills of Quantities (BOQ) Recruit, mentor, train and manage community artisans.
- Ensure that construction work is carried out with highest degree of quality with reference to Malawi Safer House Construction Guidelines. This includes assessment of construction materials and building procedures
- Delegates responsibilities to construction artisans and contractors
- Reports project status and all technical information to Construction Coordinator (Weekly, Bi-weekly and monthly).
- Co-mount emergency shelter kits where need arises.
- Safeguard cyclone victims and all vulnerable beneficiaries.
- Safeguard HFHM and partnering stakeholder staff
Education Qualification and Experience

- Malawi School Certificate of Education
- Diploma in Construction (City & Guilds) – Advance Diploma will be an added advantage
- National Trade Test in the same field.
