Summary:
To achieve the set Turnover & Gross Profit budgets. To actively promote in store activities so to enhance the customer’s shopping experience.
Stock Management
- Schedule the range report to identify complete range to be merchandised.
- Liaise with buyers & planners on problem stock
- Ensure through the Floor Manager that overstocks are controlled and managed
- Ensure follow ups & liaison is done with suppliers in terms of repairs, special promotions etc
- Ensure core stock is at 100% – If not achieved follow up before ad breaks. If not achieved details to be given on who/ what/ when has been contacted in this regard
- Monitor stock replenishment and integrity
- Advertised lines – 100% in stock through correct follow up before Ad breaks. If not achieved follow up before ad breaks. If not achieved details to be given on who/ what/ when has been contacted in this regard
- Check the orders audit trail daily
- Action the Picking slip report from the warehouse/stock rooms timeously
Promotional Activity
- Monitor store support for advertising
- Co-ordinate in-store promotional activity
- Schedule bonus buys
- Plan for major company promotions – ie Birthday, Christmas
- Ensure that suppliers give sales support & demonstrations
- Monitor promotional stock levels through audit trail
Merchandising/Ticketing standards
- Ensure that the agreed merchandising, in store ticketing & signage are adhered to & in accordance with the Ticketing Manual
- Liaise with Product coordinator on in-store promotional activities
- Liaise with Merchandise Division on discontinued lines
- Ensure that all merchandise is kept in a sellable condition
- Ensure that housekeeping & overall maintenance of all Company assets relating to the sales floor (walls, ceiling, air-conditioning, fixtures, stockrooms) are kept clean & in good working order
- Refer to weekly bulletin to ensure Gondola End Product detail is maintained in terms of the merchandise manual
Team
- Ensure that all sales floor teams as well as casuals are trained in order to achieve the required standard
- Ensure that sales floor teams are aware of daily budgets
- Conduct performance appraisals as required
- Have a thorough understanding of the Industrial Relations Policy in order to carry out disciplinary hearings where appropriate
- Recruitment & selection of subordinates.
Customer Service
- Ensure that all customer complaints and queries are resolved within 24 hours
- Ensure that the 3 meter greet rule, sundown rule and cashier campaign is adhered to at all times
- Ensure that team members acknowledge approach and engage customers in order to exceed customer expectations
- Ensure that all team members are aware, understand and model the moments of truth
- Check that all floor managers are following up on all call back vouchers
Buyer Liaison
- Communicate & liaise with buyers with regards to the following:
I. Market/marketing trends
II. New products
III. Promotions
IV. Advertisements
V. Competitors
VI. Stock
Shrinkage
- Ensure that all policies & procedures are adhered to in order to ensure that shrinkage is kept to a minimum
- Check that the relevant amount of batches are uploaded onto the high-risk scheduling daily
- Conduct high risk counts & investigations.
Sales/ Turnover
- Ensure that the weekly sales target is distributed to all sales team members including flexi’s (FTE)
- Create an awareness on a daily basis on sales performance to positively impact the weekly target
- Address individual sales team members performance weekly, by utilising the weekly sales performance report
- Support, coach and motivate team members to exceed the set budgeted sales targets
General
- The following documentation is to be complete according to scheduled time & submitted to the Store Manager:
i. Weekend Store Structure (admin & sales)
ii. Warehouse Analysis Report
iii. Core Report
- Ensure that Sales Floor Teams are aware of the relevant customer services practices to follow
- Ensure all merchandise has a PI label
- Check auction stock
- Sign all necessary registers in the computer room
- Undertake any duties of the Store Manager, Regional Manager or Operations Director might request to ensure that the store is run to maximum efficiency
Requirements:
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position
- Must be legally eligible to work in Malawi
- Malawi School Cerficate of Education. Or Degree/Diploma
- Intro to Management & Middle Management (MDD training)
- 3 years’ experience in sales
- Retail background
