The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi. In accordance with Section 13 of the Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant positions that exist within its secretariat:
Job Title : Database Administrator
Grade : C6
Responsible to : Senior Database Administrator
Purpose
To design and administer database systems that facilitate MEC business operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Database Administrator will perform the following:

- Assisting in designing, developing and maintaining the MEC database
- Installing and testing new versions of the database management system (DBMS).
- Performing backups for data, software and application packages and also arranging for safety storage for easy retrieval.
- Ensure database integrity and security.
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
- Establishing the rights of users and monitoring user access and security.
Requisite Academic Qualifications and Experience Desired

- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or any IT related field.

Minimum of Two (2+) years of experience in database administration and Database Architecture
SQL Certified Associate Preferred. - Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) will be an added advantage
Core Competencies

- Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB).
- Experience with cloud services (AWS Microsoft Azure).
- Conversant with database languages DL, ML, DCL and TCL
- Experience with multiple server environments.
