Founded in 1987, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to more than 3 million clients across 50 countries. In Malawi, AHF works in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to expand access to quality treatment for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). AHF Malawi provides these services through 50 hard-to-reach health facilities across Dedza, Lilongwe, Ntcheu, Nkhotakota, Chikwawa, Nsanje, Thyolo, and Chiradzulu districts.
To accomplish its goals in the nation, AHF Malawi is seeking highly qualified and experienced candidates for the following employment opportunities.
LOGISTIC ASSISTANT / DRIVER (1) Reports to: Logistic Officer
Duty Station: AHF Malawi Country Office – Lilongwe
Position Summary
The Logistic Assistant/Driver supports AHF Malawi operations by ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of staff, supplies, and equipment. The role contributes to the smooth implementation of program activities by providing reliable transport services, maintaining assigned vehicles in sound working condition, completing vehicle records accurately, and complying with AHF fleet policies and Malawi traffic laws. The driver will also support routine logistics and operational tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispatch program vehicles and ensure they are properly loaded.
- Adhere to security and operational procedures.
- Support AHF Malawi procurement processes.
- Support the Logistics Officer in compiling data for monthly fleet management reports.
- Ensure that drivers properly complete vehicle logbooks each month and submit them to the office responsible for review.
- Transport AHF staff to different AHF catchment sites and assist them with loading and unloading program materials.
- Provide timely reports on the condition of company vehicles.
- File reports on any delays in parking program vehicles at the end of the day and on any incidents or accidents involving program vehicles.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs in a timely manner.
- Maintain vehicles in good mechanical condition, including checking oil and water levels. Complete and submit weekly and monthly log sheets documenting these checks.
- Observe the NO TALKING/MAKING PHONE CALLS WHILE DRIVING rule. Park safely at the roadside before answering or making phone calls.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience, and Other Attributes
- Possession of a valid driving license covering Class C vehicles.
- Possession of a Malawi School Leaving Certificate (MSCE).
- Possession of a certificate in logistics and fleet management or another related field.
- More than five years of driving experience in a reputable organization.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and vehicle operating procedures.
- Basic understanding of motor-vehicle mechanics.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- High level of integrity, safety consciousness, and accountability.
- Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
