The U.S. Mission Lilongwe, Malawi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Lead Custodian.
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The Lead Custodian reports directly to the Chancery Maintenance Supervisor with oversight from the Facilities Manager and overseas, manages and directs all aspects of custodial operations related for Embassy compound, CDC/USAID compound, and PAS Office. The incumbent directly supervises one custodian grade FSN-2 and provide daily guidance to 20 contractual staff.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years’ experience in the field of janitorial maintenance is required, ideally including janitorial inspections, and experience on government and / or commercial buildings.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Incumbent r must have knowledge on established practices, policies, and procedures of the janitorial trade and Embassy policies/procedures and be knowledgeable of the tools, equipment, and processes needed to perform various custodial and
Janitorial maintenance operations
Completion of high school is required.
LANGUAGE: Level III English (good working knowledge, speaking/reading and writing) is required.
Level II ( Limited knowledge, speaking/reading and writing) Chichewa is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Incumbent must have janitorial/ custodian skills; must have strong, proven supervisory skills in the janitorial/ maintenance field; must be customer service oriented; and must have a working knowledge of Ms word and excel. Incumbent must have a valid driver’s licence class B and the ability to drive a car. Incumbent upon being hired must successfully complete the safe drive course and will be required to pass medical examination tests.
