The Opportunity


As a leader in the global movement for girls’ rights, our ambition is to take collective action so that 100 million girls learn, lead, decide and thrive. These ambitions require that we work in new ways and unleash our full creative potential. It is the role of the Digital & Innovation Team to nurture creativity and support teams to develop new impactful offerings in the areas of programming, influencing, fundraising and operations. The team is deployable to where it is most needed and provides hands-on support from the early stages of identifying a challenge statement through to the realisation of scalable impact for girls. The Innovation Team is also responsible for creating an enabling environment for innovation to flourish, including a network of innovators, skills building in human-centred design methodologies and an ecosystem or relevant partners.


The Communication & Knowledge Management Specialist will lead the design and implementation of the Digital & Innovation team’s knowledge management, communication and dissemination strategy as well as ensuring jointly with the technical leads in the team the timely implementation of a monitoring plan and periodic evaluations with corresponding corrective measures, when pertinent.


Communication and dissemination tasks will include developing and fine-tuning strategies, key messages and products for target audiences in order to mobilize stakeholders and enhance visibility of the work of the Digital & Innovation team. The postholder will be responsible for the design and production of all communication materials and quality assurance before their distribution or release into the public arena, as well as compliance with Plan International’s branding guidelines.

The postholder will also lead on creating and systematizing learned lessons and knowledge management products from our Digital & Innovation efforts. The activities related to learning and knowledge management are directed toward technical and managerial decision making as well as communicating the results and increasing the visibility of the Digital & Innovation team as well the knowledge produced, success and lessons learnt amongst key internal and external stakeholders with special focus on its contribution to the implementation/achievement of the new global strategy.


About You


You have prior experience leading the delivery of new offerings that create significant business value, preferably with social impact.


With proven experience of creating and implementing communication plans for internal and external audiences and of developing effective knowledge management systems and processes you bring strong communication skills to articulate innovation approaches and concepts internally and externally.


An understanding of human-centered design and practical experience of utilising the techniques in a business context, preferably for social impact is required.

Location: Flexible where Plan International has a legal entity and the applicant has the pre-existing right to work and live.

Type of Role: Permanent unless fixed term contract dictated by employing office

Reports to: Head of Digital and Innovation

Salary: We will be happy to disclose the salary and applicable benefits to applicants as part of this process, however, please kindly note that this will vary according to the location of the appointed candidate and therefore it is not possible to include full details here. As an indication if this role was based in the Global Hub office in the UK the salary range would be circa £25000 per annum
