Overview

MALAWI RED CROSS SOCIETY

MRCS with funding from IFRC would like to engage suitable qualified candidate   to fill the vacant position of  WASH OFFICER   tenable at its Headquarters in Area 14 Lilongwe for a period of four Months under the Cholera  response  Project.

Purpose of the position

This person will manage the Cholera response operations. S/he will specifically focus on supporting WASH related activities. S/he will also lead in implementation of Cholera interventions and coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders at national and district level.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful person  will be responsible for the following:

  • Sensitizing communities and navigating innovative ways of improving uptake of quality health services
  • Strengthening referral systems on access to health services in accordance with the ministry of health community health strategy.
  • Coordinating community health interventions with districts and community health structures while promoting ECBHFA approach
  • Support Programme Coordinator on planning, budgeting, implementations and evaluation for cholera interventions.
  • Mobilizing the community and other stakeholders at national, the district and community levels in community health interventions;
  • Supporting with advocacy and mobilization of resources for advancement of community health activities in MRCS programming
  • Facilitating, training and developing community health volunteers/workers and members of community health committees on cholera interventions
  • Support the M&E process by conducting proper planning, monitoring, evaluation producing regular, timely and accurate narrative reports for the Federation and donors.

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health or any health related qualification. Those with Master’s Degree in Public Health will have an added advantage
  • Good understanding of current Malawi Health systems, policies and guidelines related to Health and WASH Programming.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in managing health related programmes
  • Experience of project planning & budgeting, supervision and management to include monitoring and evaluation including health information system.
