VectorLink Malawi Project
funded by the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI/USAID), provides support in planning and implementation of IRS program in Malawi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health
(MOH). National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), Nkhotakota District Health Office (DHO) and
Nkhotakota District Council, with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria. This is through
conducting cost-effective commodity procurement and logistics systems, access to technical expertise,
training, and timely implementation of IRS in districts affected by malaria. The VectorLink project is
implemented by Abt Associates Inc.
VectorLink Malawi Project in collaboration with Nkhotakota District Council is carrying out recruitment
activities to fill various seasonal temporary positions for the VectorLink Malawi project. These positions
will be based at various operations sites in Nkhotakota District VectorLink Malawi will have Operations
Sites in 1) Benga. 2) Boma, 3) Bua, 4) Chididi, 5) Dwambazi, 6) Dwangwa. 7) Mkaika, 8) Mwansambo and
Below is the summary of seasonal positions per operation site and the number of people needed per
SPRAY OPERATORS (465)
Spray insecticide inside houses on daily basis for a period of 30 working days. Spray will be carried out Monday – Friday for approximately 6 weeks.
Provide the relevant information to the households and ensure that households are properly prepared and their questions answered before starting to spray.
Record required data on the appropriate spray operator form.
Mix and apply insecticides at the right dosage and with the correct spraying technique.
Account for both full and empty sachets to the team leaders supervisors and storekeepers
Use personal protection equipment (PPE) properly and follow established environmental compliance procedures.
Check if the house is well prepared and ensure that all household items that can move have been removed from the house before spraying the house.
Qualifications and requirements:
Minimum of MSCE
Candidates with a Junior Certificate (JC) should have a documented IRS experience.
Know and apply local customs and protocols for meeting local leaders and the community
Understand and communicate in the local language of the community.
A resident of the same traditional authority is a must
Have knowledge on malaria prevention and be able to promote positivebehaviorss on malaria prevention.
Willing to travel long distances on foot.
Willingness to work during odd hours.
Candidates with documented IRS experience will have an added advantage during recruitment.
Applicants should be aged from 21 years old and above.
