Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES) with funding from US CDC through the Center for Vaccine Equity, Respiratory Diseases of the Task Force for Global Health Organization, is working with Ministry of Health (MOH) to support COVID-19 vaccination roll-out activities and Sentinel Site surveillance of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination in selected sites.
Consequently, it seeks to appoint qualified, self-motivated and talented individuals to work in the following position:
Project Coordinator (1 post) – Blantyre
Type of contract and duration
Initial contract is for one year with possibility of further extension based on performance and availability of funding.
Reporting to the principal Investigator, the coordinator will provide technical support, be responsible for assisting with effective and efficient designing, establishing and implementing of COVID-19 vaccines site surveillance and related program activities in close collaboration with all stakeholders including Ministry of Health at all levels, Non-governmental Organisations and academic institutions to achieve the goals of the program. S/he will also be responsible for resource planning and management while ensuring effective coordination and collaboration with all key stakeholders
Key areas of responsibility:
The specific responsibilities will include:
Develop, implement and monitor and evaluate project plans for program and surveillance activities.
Provide technical input and facilitate development, reviews and piloting of train data collection tools for training programs and surveillance activities.
Plan, organize and facilitate meetings and trainings, including for health workers, partners and stakeholders.
Develop and maintain records of research activities including maintaining Internal Review Board (IRB) documents for regulatory bodies
Assist to develop research study protocols and tools.
Supervise and manage project field team whenever necessary to ensure successful implementation of research and program activities.
Work with administration team to ensure all activities are implemented timely and within approved budgets
Assist, administer and manage project funds including monitoring, tracking and report implementation expenditures as requested,
In collaboration with surveillance team members, produce reports and presentations for meetings, conferences, donors and as requested. This includes assist with data analysis and interpretation of results.
Accomplish all other tasks as assigned.
Technical and professional requirements:
To perform these duties the Project coordinator should have
Experience working with Ministry of Health, government departments, Non-governmental Organization’s and donor agencies.
Experience coordinating research or health programs.
Strong interest and passion in public health and or implementation research
Ability to focus on details and excellent writing skills
Familiarity with data analytical sills and experience with statistical software packages.
Capacities to work independent, n a team setting and collaborative environment.
Skills to write concise, grammatically correct technical correspondence.
Previous experience with DHIS2 and developing and field testing research and Ministry of Health programs’ data collection, planning and monitoring and evaluation tools.
Receptive to constructive feedback.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal.
At least a University degree in Public Health, Community Nursing, Clinical Medicine, MBBS or related fields with strong backup of reputable performance and experience.
Experience developing and implementing research study protocols.
