Assistant Professor – Global Women’s Health Division

Location – Lilongwe, Malawi

Position:  Assistant Professor, Global Women’s Health Division, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Full-time.

 

Position Responsibilities:

As part of the Global Women’s Health Division, this position will require the direct provision of clinical care to women at various sites in Lilongwe, Malawi under the Baylor Malawi College of Medicine Children’s Foundation and Malawi Ministry of Health Public-Private Partnership as an employee of Baylor College of Medicine. This includes care for girls and adolescents, pregnant, and postpartum women. The position may also involve participation in and coordination of clinical, medical, and educational services at the Kamuzu Central Hospital, University of Malawi College of Medicine, as well as the in-country supervision of the BCM/TCH OB/GYN training program for fellows and residents.

 

The position is under the supervision of Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital Global Women’s Health Initiative in Malawi. The ideal candidate will be an excellent clinician with experience and demonstrated competency in the depth and breadth of general Obstetrics and Gynecology. The candidate should have a strong interest in the education of providers at all levels including physicians, residents, midwives, nurses, clinical officers and others. Providing education is a key part of this position. The ideal candidate will stimulate community support for the program through contacts in the community and actively engage local and national institutions and non-government organizations (NGO) related to the mission of the program; foster a positive atmosphere whereby program healthcare providers are involved in the decision-making process within the program; promote program development; and serve as a role model in leadership. The position includes overnight call coverage and may include occasional travel to other Baylor College of Medicine sites.

 

Qualifications: Must have a Medical degree and specialty training in Ob/Gyn
