The Opportunity

Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified person to fill the position of District Project Facilitator for Power of Nutrition Project (PoN). There are three (3) positions available and the positions are based in Ntcheu and Balaka. The District Project Facilitator (DPF) is responsible for providing direction and supervision on all aspects of community PoN related activities in the project impact areas. She / he will lead activities mainly at community level/traditional authority level, focusing on the capacity building of local structures, service providers, volunteers as well as community leaders. S/he works closely with community members to plan and implement community mobilization activities, aimed at addressing the root causes and contributing factors to chronic malnutrition and poor early childhood development (ECD) outcomes more broadly, within Ntcheu and Balaka Districts. S/he is responsible for ensuring uniformity and quality of training materials in all project sites within the district to be delivered in targeted locations, and provides guidance to project team members on community dynamics which will influence uptake of project activities leading to successful realization of the expected outcomes.

The DPF will be reporting directly to the District Project Coordinator – PoN project. She/he will play a key role at district level in ensuring that SCI is well represented and that SCI is always meeting key project deliverables in a timely manner.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • At least Diploma in Rural/Community Development, Social Work or any related field with proven experience and those with Bachelor’s level degree will be highly considered.
  • At least three years’ experience in working directly with communities on Nutrition and health-related issues, agriculture and livelihoods interventions including economic empowerment and ECD.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation and mobilizing support for community-based activities.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Immunization Outreach Clinic is desirable.
  • A good understanding of structures that support nutrition interventions like DNCC and their operational context.
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and hardworking circumstances.
  • Ability to write clear project reports (both narrative and financial) as well as updates
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English and Chichewa, with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to take quality photos and videos to be shared with back donors
  • Strong passion for working with children.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children’s mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
  • Valid motor cycle driving licence.
