Project title:     Technical Assistance to the “AFIKEPO” Nutrition Programme in Malawi”


Brief description   of the assignment   :  JNKE – Monitoring, Evaluation, and Operational Research


Description of Work and Deliverables:


The JNKE for M&E and OR will work under Key Expert 2 to perform the following tasks:

  • Drafting procedures and tools to collect nutrition and nutrition-relevant data and feed into the system;
  • Identify linkages across thematic areas, enabling access to different datasets included in different M&E systems;
  • Hands-on support and training to users of the system on a continuous basis for the sustainability of outcomes;
  • Ensure the indicators are compatible and the data collected informs the users about the level of achievement of each indicator
  • Ensure AFIKEPO indicators and indicators of other relevant programs are fully incorporated in the new system
  • Advise on the development and review of data collection systems, tools, data analysis, and synthesis to contribute towards quality reports and documents.
  • Provide drafting inputs and support for the establishment of the framework of cooperation with potential research partners, recruitment of students and academics from identified potential partners to carry out studies, development of a nutrition research network. This will involve drafting TORs for engagement and recruitment of research partners, among other activities.


Commencement date of the assignment: 56 working days, 15 May 2021 – 30 April 2022

Qualifications and skills:

A University degree in a relevant development, social, natural sciences-related field and fluency in both written and spoken English is a prerequisite. A Master’s degree is a clear advantage. Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage.


General professional experience:

At least five years of experience in agriculture, food security, nutrition, and monitoring and evaluation, working at policy and/or field implementation level.


Specific professional experience:

A minimum of three years of experience working on development projects or programs related to monitoring and evaluation of food security, nutrition, or agriculture projects.
